The Department of English was on path with the beginning of the College in the year 1961. The aim of the Department was to impart knowledge of English language amongst the aspirants of English learning and to assist rural, poor, disadvantaged students in getting the English knowledge in and around Nipani a place in the border of Karnataka. Shri. S. S. Kotagi was the first to Head the department and he has laid the strong foundation. Many great teachers have contributed much with their hard work and services to mould and reform the department.
Their endless support and eagerness made the Department attain its goals and fulfill the objectives set by the Department. Their contribution is unforgettable for the student community and the Department is deeply grateful to all these teachers.
Presently, Dr. M. M. Hurali is the Head of the Department and there is a team of committed teachers like Raseed Mulla, Salman Maner and R. Monika.
English was a major subject in the beginning and when the system of three subjects of equal importance came in force, it was taught as an Optional subject for UG level. English is also taught as a Basic subject at BA I to VI semesters, BSc and BCom I to IV semesters.
Department is proud enough to say that it has introduced career oriented, value added add-on courses like Spoken English, Communication Skills and Translation to foster the needs of the students of all the streams of the college.
The Head of the Department, Dr. M. M. Hurali has completed his MPhil on “Speaking of Shiva: A Study in Translation” in 1995 and PhD on “Indian English Novels of Social Realism (1980-2000): A Study” in 2013 from Karnatak University, Dharwad.
He has also completed a Minor Research Project titled “Problems of Teaching Language Skills at Tertiary Level in Rural Colleges: A Study in Bagalkot District” with financial assistance from UGC.
Raseed Mulla has cleared K-SET.
The region is known for Marathi speaking people, hence the Department took it as a challenge to make the students to speak in English and reach to the global competencies.

Our Department is lucky enough that the following staff served as Head of Department viz . Prof.Appajigol, Prof.R. B. Jadav, Dr. S. K. Kabburi, Prof. S.G.Konnur, Dr.K.F.Pawar Shri. S. S. Ghorpade and at present Shri. Sudhir.S. Kothiwale is working as a Head of the Department. At present our all staff have cleared Karnataka State Eligibility test.
To help students develop into responsible, critical, reflective and productive citizens. Students will acquire a working knowledge of different political systems. A degree in Political science prepares students for many forms of employment as well as further study.

The department of Economics is one of the oldest departments. It was established in 1961 with the inception of the college. It was taught as a major subject for BA programme. Later, a course in Economics for BCom programme was started in 1977. At present, Economics is taught as an optional subject.
Shri. S. G. Kulkarni was the first to lead the department. Shri. S. G Karabantanal and Shri. N. Halayya served as faculty and also as principals of college. Great teachers like Dr. A. P. Biradar Patil and Shri. B. R. Patil have put in great services in the department.
The objective of the department is to make the students understand the basics of Economics through micro and macro theories. The department also makes every effort to enhance the analytical skills of students through unique events like elocution competitions in association with a Forum of Free Enterprise, Mumbai, field surveys, report writing, seminars, essay competitions and group discussions.
At present, Dr. B. S. Kamble is the head of the department accompanied by Shri. M. S. Vanaki. Dr. B . S. Kamble has completed his PhD on "An Economic Analysis on Leather Footwear Units: A Case Study of Athani, Belgaum District", awarded on 13th August 2005 under UGC FIP Scheme. Shri. M. S. Vanaki has completed his MPhil on “Transport Development in India: A Case Study of Road Transport in Belgaum District” awarded on 2nd July 2008.
The faculty has good number of paper presentations and publications. They are members of reputed professional bodies and they worked as resource persons at various institutions, seminars and conferences.
The department was enriched with grant of Rs. 1.83 Lakh from UGC under IX and X plan periods for Minor Research Projects and Rs.60000 for national conference.
The Department of History was established in the year 1961. The objectives of the department are to make the students to learn the general course of human history and to be acquainted with the range of issues related to the Indian History. With these objectives, the department has many activities to foster the needs of the students all these years. Great teachers like Shri. Ghorpade, Shri. Rajanna, Dr. C. B. Kamate and Dr. V. D. Malage rendered their services in the department. At present, Shri. Nagaraj S. Belgaonkar is heading the department.

Language is not only the means of communication but also it's way of life. Through language only we understand the very culture, tradition of the specific place and community. It reflects the entire mindset of human community. Even though Kannada is vernacular language but it has two thousand years of history. Hence it is recognized as one of the "Classical Language"s of the country. We believe the statement ‘‘Think locally and act globally.’’
The Department of Kannada was established in the year 1961 i.e. along with the college itself. In early period renowned Kannada writers like Dr. M.S.Latthe, Dr. Buddanna Hingamire, Dr. Basavaraj Jagajampi served as faculty members.
Our one of the best practices is celebration of ‘Karnatak Rajyotsava’. The department programmes are always student centric. Along with seminars and webinars. We organize competitions like. Poster making, self written poetry recitation, singing and essay writing etc. And our students are excelled by securing cent percent results. And our faculty members published books articles and presented papers in various platforms.

Language is an essential media of communication. Learning a language in a systematic manner can make the person efficient to deliver the content effectively. Mastery over Hindi language is an added advantage for student of any discipline. The department of Hindi was established in 1961. Arts discipline students study Hindi as one of the Modern Indian language or Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course as well as Optional or Discipline Specific Course. Science and Commerce students can study as only Modern Indian Language or AECC. The department has well qualified and trained faculty. Students are encouraged to attend International, National and State level Seminar, Conference and Workshops and our students are presenting the papers and participating in it. Our students excelled by securing cent percent results. Slow and advanced learners are identified and necessary action is taken for their academic improvement. Students actively participate in In-house Seminars, Group discussions, Project works and Guest lectures. A National level webinar conducted on Maithili Sharan Gupt in 2020. The department has good number of reference books, model question papers and question bank. Certificate course on Translation from English or Kannada to Hindi is conducted every year. Competitions like Essay writing, Elocution, Poetry recitation, Patriotic songs singing are conducted regularly and prizes are distributed to the winners. One of the faculties has published two books; other has been awarded with Best Ribbon Club National Award. Faculty is members of BoS and BoE of affiliating university and resource person for various institutions. Hindi day is celebrated on 14th of September every year.
