NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS)


The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. The National Service Schemes is voluntary and value based. The Schemes was launched on 24th September 1969, On the Occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's Birth Centenary Year. It was inaugurated by the then central education minister Dr. V. K. R. V. Rao it aimed at developing student's personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of youth in College to connect campus and community.

Our College NSS unit is established in 1971. Under the Karnataka University, Dharwad in 2010 The Unit is affiliated to Rani Channamma University, Belagavi. The NSS cell is assisted by Central government and State government. National Service Scheme is the part of Educational expansion and undertakes social and community engagement programmes. In this direction NSS cell is working under the direction and support of the KLE society Management, local management, Principal and the staff of our College, and under the able leadership of Dr S. M. Rayamane NSS Officer.


THE SYMBOL OF NSS:

The symbol of the NSS is based on the giant Rath Wheel of the world-famous Konark Sun Temple (The Black Pagoda) situated in Orissa, India. The wheel portrays the cycle of creation, preservation and release. It signifies the movement in life across time and space, the symbol thus stands for continuity as well as change and implies the continuous striving of NSS for social change. The eight bars in the wheel represent 24 hours of a day. The red color indicates that the volunteer is full of young blood that is lively, active, energetic and full of high spirit. The navy blue color indicates the cosmos of which the NSS is tiny part, ready to contribute its share for the welfare of the mankind. The white color stands for purity, simplicity and honesty. It stands for continuity as well as change and implies the continuous striving of NSS.



VISION:

To develop the overall personality and leadership qualities in students through willful community services with new horizons to upgrade their skill and knowledge.

MISSION:

The Motto of NSS 'Not Me but You", reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. NSS helps the students' development & appreciation to other person's point of view and also show consideration towards other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS is a good doctrine in this motto, which underlines on the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society, as a whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society. The NSS cell is stepping towards promoting students capacity through practices to meet social needs and encouraging them to participate in promoting social harmony and national integration.

National Service Scheme Aims and objectives:


The objectives of National service scheme are to arouse in the students social conscience and to provide them opportunity.


  • To work among the people.
  • To engage in creative and constructive social activities.
  • To enhance their knowledge of themselves and of the community.
  • To gain skill in the exercise of Democratic leadership.
  • To Bridge the gulf between the educated and uneducated masses.

Highlights of the N.S.S. Department of our college:

N.S.S. Department has started in 1971.
The College has one unit of 100 volunteers, with majority girl volunteers.
Dr.S.M. Rayamane is N.S.S officer from 2017 to till date.

  • Nirmala Gram Yojana, Conservation of environment, save water awareness.
  • LPG gas awareness program.
  • Voter’s awareness rally.

Regular Celebrations:

    international women's Day, Shri Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, Shri. Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti, Valmiki Jayanti, Savitribai Phule
    Jayanti, Kanak Das Jayanti, Karnataka rajyotsava, and Shramadana Program.ext.


NSS Achievement’s:

  1. Organized six blood donation camps in association with kle Hospital Belagavi and Rotary club Nipani. Total 244 unit blood donated.
  2. Provided Food and Necessary materials help worth Rs-50,000/-to flood victims.
  3. More than 6000 plantation at Stavnidhi smashan Bhumi, Ramalinga temple, Shipur Shri.DattaTemple, Addi and our College, campus surrounding at Nipani area.
  4. Organized five special camps at various villages.
  5. Construction of primary school compound at Gavan and Chikalwal,
  6. Free health check-up and distribution of free medicines to 1600 peoples.
  7. 04 NSS volunteers participated in free R D selection camps at Belagavi.
  8. Our NSS Volunteers Financial help of Rs-7140/-to family of Blind Appa More and Savitribai more for their daughter’s marriage.
  9. Dr. S M Rayamane NSS Office, received Best programs organized Award, from Grampanchayati at Chikalwal.
